We really do have an Ayatolla Pigolla Party, and you would fit right in. By far the majority of the revelers are God fearing Christians, carpenters, welders, elk and deer hunters….. The usual gaggle of rednecks.
Where we will disagree is on the subject of religion. I think all organized religions are archaic. Too divisive, too much of I am right therefore you are wrong. The extremists of any religion are scary. You read Sam Harris?
Maybe the worst damage that Bush has done is to the battle against extremism. Muslim extremists are a real threat, but Bush’s War has compounded the threat by giving the extremists an inflated role of importance.

Here’s something you and I will agree on, Religion and Politcis don’t mix. That’s why I don’t like Islam. In Christianity you have Give unto Ceasar what’s Ceasar and Give onto God, what is God’s. In Islam the State and Religion are one. If America was mostly Islamic, Atheists and Agnostics would be killed and I would be paying a Jiyaza Tax.
My gripe with some on the Left, not you since you bash all religions and I respect your view, is that that many Leftists have this love affair with islam. Msulims do no wrong and Christians are evil in their world view. They are being used by the Muslims to enact their agenda. I wish the Left would stand up to Islam more. That’s my gripe.

Here’s another one we will agree on. Sooner or later a religious zealot will get his hands on a nuclear bomb and try to do his God’s work by taking out a city of infidels. That’s a real threat I think.
And that’s my biggest problem with Bush and his War in Iraq. That nuclear event is more probable because of our detour into Iraq. We took out the most secular nation in the region and it looks like we transformed it into a mini-Iran. And our presence is Al Qaeda’s biggest recruiting tool.
You have any kids Trajan? I have two, and if I lost a kid to a soldier’s bullet I would do anything in my power for revenge, and I think the Iraqis are the same way. I would be the first in line to carry that heavy suitcase to NY City if my kid was killed by an American.
I think you’re wrong about the Left having a love affair with Islam, I really do. Consider this. The Left are patriots too and we love our country and hate to see what Bush has done to our ideals. You are mistaking a backlash against Bush and his policies as being support for Islam. No way! For the reasons you pointed out earlier, Islamic extremism is far worse and more drastic.
And that’s the travesty of Cheney, Bush and Karl. They have divided and polarized the country into two camps, when it’s a false division. Instead of coming together to fight a common enemy, we are drawing lines in the sand between ourselves.
